China’s October PMI Highlights Continued Pressure on Manufacturing Employment

China’s National Bureau of Statistics reported on 1 November that the October manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index fell to 49.3%, while the manufacturing employment sub-index remained below the 50-point expansion threshold. The figures point to ongoing pressure on factory workforce demand and business activity, creating potential demand for recruitment services, workforce restructuring, payroll outsourcing, employee training and HR analytics; no separate national HR-services contract value was disclosed.
